Papadi was appointed to reintroduce the games for schools kids in the Soweto region. Our strategic partners were the City of Johannesburg, Deptartment of Sport and Recreation and sponsors Aspen, Italtile, Crawford College and Putco.
The games were held on 20 October 2012 in Meadowlands, Soweto and featured 8 schools from Soweto participating in 9 sporting codes and involving 680 pupils from these schools. All of the pupils come from historically disadvantaged communities.
The purpose of the games were developmental and intended to promote clean healthy living, in such a way that pupils are orientated towards a future that is free from alcohol and drugs.
Although there are 9 sporting codes, the highlight will be that the winners of a football code who got to play a team from Alexandra at the Alex Stadium. Other highlights included the awarding of medals to each participant, as well as an overall trophy to the winning school.
