Papadi Football Experiential Tour to Alex

The aim of the tour was to expose corporates and their agencies to the large football mass market. Alex is a massive township that borders Sandton, Africa’s economic hub, and the 600 000 residents are all football crazy! A hired chauffeur driven combi collected guests in Rosebank and followed Papadi’s instructions.

The first stop was the world famous Joe’s Butchery. Highlights included:
  • Cultural dancers welcomed the group
  • Umqombothi (Zulu Beer) welcome drink
  • African buffet including Sheeps head (Smileys), Mopani Worms (Ma ’soldier), Maotwana (chicken feet), Mogodu, Inyama ye Nhloko, Idombolo (dumplings), etc...
  • The traditional Shisa Nyama
  • African beads and necklace gifts
  • Personalised makarapa for each guest – names hand-painted by artist
  • Football legends
The tour then went to the Alex stadium. Highlights include:
  • Visit to Alex FC change room prior to kick-off
  • SAFA Alex president welcome
  • Stadium "packed" to capacity
  • Dedicated halftime coaching clinics
  • Guests invited on-field
