Papadi Integrated Marketing will be eventing the 2010 edition of the popular Cell C December Community Soccer Tournaments which will be hosted in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

The events will be hosted in the original venues where Cell C started their highly successful sponsorship of community football. Umlazi will host their event from 18 – 27 December while Kwa-Thema’s event will run from 16 – 30 December, 2010.

The tournaments will cater for open men teams, masters and a selection of youth categories. In all a total of 550 matches will be played by the estimated 200 community teams. The highly anticipated events which are been played on 11 fields, will all be played in the heart of the communities.

Cell C have been actively involved with various soccer initiatives since 2006, including the Sidlala Sonke Easter soccer tournaments. More than 30 tournaments are hosted each year throughout the country, in conjunction with local communities, regional SAFA structures - and implemented by Community Activation specialists, Papadi Integrated Marketing.

"The Cell C Soccer Tournaments has grown in stature, and we are very proud of what the events have achieved over the years. Eight players now play for PSL teams while another twenty players ply their trade in the National First Division", said Simon Camerer, executive head of marketing.

’What we see with this event is that it gets the entire community involved in every aspect of the tournament, and that is our objective as Cell C. Each community will determine how they run their own event, but we will generally guide the teams on how to run the tournament.

"The tournament also stimulates entrepreneurship in the communities, with community members being an integral part of each event, serving meals, snacks and drinks to the fans and teams.

"Cell C values the partnerships that we’ve created with local communities and we are excited that the nation has embraced these tournaments. It is for this reason that we look forward to yet another successful event over the festive season," says Camerer.

Various veteran soccer stars will again grace the events and most of the PSL teams will send their scouts.

The team draw for the Kwa-Thema event will be held at 2pm on Saturday 11 December while the Umlazi events draw will be conducted on15 December at 17h30.

Apart from prize money, Cell C will also provide trophies, medals and football kits to all the finalists.
