The "Dlala Ntombazana" project’s primary aim is to develop womens’ soccer as
well as to address HIV/AIDS challenges facing young women around the country.
An impressive 55 School teams from the Tshwane (Pretoria) region completed in a
knockout event on Saturday 4th August 2007 at Muckleneuk and Mamelodi Central
soccer grounds in Mamelodi respectively.
Participating age groups were U/11, U/13, U/15, U/17 and U/19. The tournament
consisted of eleven teams per age group respectively. The event was a success
in terms of attendance and participation, with the Awards Ceremony taking place
at Mamelodi Central soccer grounds, which is situated next to HM Pitje Stadium.
The event was sponsored by City of Tshwane who provided Medals, trophies as well
as T-shirts for officials and volunteer staff members. MMC Zodwa Masondo also
graced the event on behalf of City of Tshwane. The TV crew from Siyadlala,
a sport program which is flighted on SABC was also present to capture highlights
of the event.
